I created the Cross Roads graphic score (part of which serves as the cover of this recording) when I was staying at a terrible Motel 6 in Indianapolis in November 2021. It was a very sketchy place. Unsavory characters wandered about, there was a sad go-go bar across the street, I saw used needles here and there, and my room smelled like a mixture of cat urine and stale cigarette smoke.

But I didn't want to spend much money and I was only there for about six hours. I used most of that time to make this score, and then finished it during my layover in Atlanta the next day. Sometimes those soulless travel locations spur me to inspiration. Maybe it's because the creative work is a refuge, like it's always been, and like it always will be.
