This recording features "Halcott," a graphic score that is part of my Sonic Peaks project. (www.sonicpeaks.com) Sonic Peaks is a massive interdisciplinary project that involves summiting 146 mountains in the Northeastern United States and then creating music that reflects on those experiences. Halcott is a mountain in the Catskills. It's an untrailed peak, so I had to bushwack, in the dead of winter, completely alone, over a couple feet of snow. The route was only 4.1 miles, but it took me over five hours of arduous, slow climbing. My mind was all over the place, ruminating on the various failures of my life, angry at colleagues, frustrated with the slow progress, until finally I achieved a level of peace on the summit.

The other tracks were all created after several days of intense practicing, and explore the connection between physical gestures and sonic architecture.
